Call for expressions of interest for
ISN Sister Renal Centers Committee, Members
The ISN welcomes expressions of interest for the position of members of the ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC) Committee. The new members will start their 2-year term at the World Congress of Nephrology 2027 (WCN’27).
About the ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC) Committee
The ISN Sister Renal Centers Committee oversees the ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC) Program, which is part of the overall capacity building effort of the ISN and strives to bring essential teaching and training to doctors and healthcare practitioners in low resource countries (i.e. LICs, LMICs and UMICs as per World Bank status). By linking emerging centers with supporting centers, the SRC Program aims at enhancing the clinical practice of nephrology at emerging centers through a variety of training exchanges.
The objectives of the ISN Sister Renal Centers Committee are to:
- Ensure implementation of the ISN strategic framework, as defined by the ISN governing bodies, in decision-making processes and across all activities of the SRC Program
- Distribute the budget allocated to the SRC Program in the most equitable possible manner, consistent with the aims of the Program and the ISN strategic planning framework
- Actively engage and liaise with ISN Regional Boards and other relevant ISN Supporting Groups to maximize information exchange and strategic planning, while promoting the Program’s activities
- Support fundraising and strategic partnerships, in full collaboration with ISN Headquarters
The role
Members contribute to the main work of the SRC Committee:
- Online scoring of the SRC applications once a year. Applications close on 1 October, and each application is assessed by at least five reviewers, so the majority of the work takes place in October and November. The Committee typically reviews around 40 applications a year.
- Providing guidance to applicants to identify a suitable emerging, supporting and/or mentoring center where required.
- Liaising actively with the ISN Regional Board for your region to disseminate the opportunities offered by the SRC Program, encourage applications, and follow up on the impact of the selected partnerships.
- Providing insights and recommendations to ensure successful implementation and sustained impact of the SRC Program.
- Participating in meetings organized at the ISN World Congress of Nephrology and/or ASN Kidney Week, where members are already attending, and in teleconferences organized on an ad-hoc basis.
